Counter-CutUniversity of Missouri to Recognize Pagan, Wiccan holidays.

Don’t be so surprised, this is not news.  The University already honors Islamic, Shintoist, Buddhist, Jewish, and Christian holidays.  In fact, most Universities honor all kinds of religious holidays; some include pagan and wiccan as well.

Speaking the Truth

You don’t have to agree with me.
You don’t have to like or love me.
All I ask is that you hear me out
And not shut the words up before they exit my mouth.

You always, always have the option to tune me out,
To ignore or walk away from me,
To argue with me,
To mock and ridicule me.

But here in America
You never had and never will have the right
To muzzle me, to silence me,
To kill me.

[This was written two years ago.
I wonder if the last stanza is still true today.]

Pascal’s Wager has been controversial since it was posed over 300 years ago.  It has been widely analyzed, misunderstood, and misapplied to “prove” the existence of God.  It does no such thing.  Rather,

“Pascal’s Wager is an attempt to justify belief in God not with an appeal to evidence for his existence but rather with an appeal to self-interest. It is in our interests to believe in the God of Christianity, the argument suggests, and it is therefore rational for us to do so.”  (http://www.philosophyofreligion.info/theistic-proofs/pascals-wager/ ) Read more…
