His Brother’s Keeper?

August 24, 2012 Leave a comment

Counter-CutA few days ago I read an article about Barack Obama.  According to the article, Obama has a brother in Nigeria who lives in the Huruma slum of Nairobi, and Obama simply refuses to acknowledge his existence – let alone provide $1000 to help with his brother’s medical bills.  Consequently Obama’s brother felt compelled to ask the author, whom he had met years earlier, for financial help.  Subsequently the author reported the situation.

Obama’s income is several million dollars annually; his brother’s income is just barely subsistence level at a few dollars monthly.  So much for Obama’s “fair share” and “My brother’s keeper.”  Actually, this report is absolutely consistent with the picture painted of Barack Obama in the book “The Amateur.”   Read it and decide for yourself.

Obama’s Birth Certificate Controversy

The other day I wanted to conduct some routine business.  I was asked to present my Driver’s License and a Birth Certificate.  When I was applying for a job, sometimes I was requested to bring along my college transcripts or military service records.  Clearly, others wanted to verify my assertions because all is not as it looks.

The Constitution places some very specific qualification requirements to hold Congressional or Presidential office.  The requirement for the Presidency, in particular, is as follows:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

If I can be required to present documents that prove my qualifications when applying for a job, then it is perfectly reasonable to use the same standard for a person applying for a job as President of this country. Read more…

Sticks and Stones

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” goes a children’s taunt.  In reality it doesn’t work like that.  Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words may kill you, heal you, or save you.  After all, a judge’s words, “I sentence you to death,” have serious implications!  That’s why we’re going to look at the importance of words in this blog. Spin Masters

February 23, 2012 2 comments

We live in the age of the spin master, political handler, press/media/PR agent, marketing/advertising specialist, TV “expert”, and so forth.  What do all of these professions have in common?  They package and tailor the message of truth.

Packaging the message?  That is the art of wrapping and hiding the truth to make it appear as something different from what it really is.

Tailoring the message?  That is the art of omitting parts of the truth, emphasizing minute inconsequential elements of the truth out of all proportion, and even including untruth in the message to make it appear different from what it really is.

A witness on the stand promises to tell “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” because anything else is a lie.  Read more…
