Take an Aspirin…

This is a sequel to the previous post “Message to America.”

The senseless mayhem at the Boston Marathon a few days ago was a gruesome tragedy without doubt.  Our hearts break for those who lost a loved one, those who were maimed, and all their families.   May the Lord give them strength and may His peace beyond understanding speed the healing.

But an even greater tragedy is our national reaction to what happened. Read more…

Messages: Message to America

April 18, 2013 Leave a comment

This is the third post of this series.  The posts form a single coherent unit intended to be read in its entirety.  The series consists of the following inspirations received under similar circumstances over a period of years:

  • Jihad – June 7, 2001)
  • Shades of Gray (The New American) – August 1, 2001
  • Message to America – Apr. 12, 2013

This is the first post of a series.  The posts form a single coherent unit intended to be read in its entirety.  The series consists of the following individual inspirations received under similar circumstances over a period of years:

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” goes a children’s taunt.  In reality it doesn’t work like that.  Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words may kill you, heal you, or save you.  After all, a judge’s words, “I sentence you to death,” have serious implications!  That’s why we’re going to look at the importance of words in this blog. We live in the age of the spin master, political handler, press/media/PR agent, marketing/advertising specialist, TV “expert”, and so forth.  What do all of these professions have in common?  They package and tailor the message of truth.

Packaging the message?  That is the art of wrapping and hiding the truth to make it appear as something different from what it really is.

Tailoring the message?  That is the art of omitting parts of the truth, emphasizing minute inconsequential elements of the truth out of all proportion, and even including untruth in the message to make it appear different from what it really is.

A witness on the stand promises to tell “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” because anything else is a lie.  Read more…
