The Middle East: Ancient History Part 1, Background

This is the ninth in a series of essays examining the Middle East situation from a Biblical perspective.Counter-Cut

Every fall people flock to corn mazes and hay mazes that spring up throughout the countryside.  Famers create these mazes by cutting labyrinthine paths in corn that stands taller than a man, or by constructing labyrinthine walls of hay bales higher than a man.

Upon entering the maze no one can see where they have been, where they are, or where they’re going.  Navigating one’s way out of such mazes is challenging and time-consuming.  While in these mazes, do we know where we are?  Kind of, but not really.

However, if we had an accurate map of the maze and an accurate record of where we’ve been, we could know exactlywhere we are and where we’re going.  We could even plan and reliably follow a route to get out of the maze.

It is the same with history.  If we want to know what the future might hold – though we cannot see the future clearly – it is necessary to know where we started, where we’ve been, and where we are.  We can then make some reasonable projections of the future based on that knowledge.  However, the more accurately and the farther out into the future we wish to make our projections, the farther back in time we must look to maintain reasonable accuracy of prediction. The Middle East: Whose Land Is It Anyway?

Counter-CutThis is the eigth in a series of posts examining the Middle East situation from a Biblical perspective.

The previous post on this topic, The Middle East: History,  has demonstrated that based on history alone the state of Israel is the rightful owner of all the land contested by the Arabs and Jews.

But there is a significant difference between rightful and legal ownership. One could be the rightful owner of a piece of real estate, yet still not legally own it. Read more…

Atheist Bibles and Chaplains?

Counter-CutAtheists are on a mission to eradicate any semblance of Christianity from America’s public forums and places. The mission is doomed to failure: It failed miserably in spite of nearly a century of Communist repression in Russia. But that doesn’t stop atheists from trying.

Two such recent attempts follow.
Which brings up the question, “When is not a religion a religion?”
The legal answer:  “When atheism looks like a religion, talks like a religion, and acts like a religion.”
Nevertheless one wonders if our government is intentionally implementing atheism as the official “state religion”…

Cancelled Ticket to Paradise?

Counter-CutA great motivator for young  Muslim jihadists is the certain prospect of 70 virgins awaiting them in Paradise if they die in the cause of jihad. Here is a great American idea on how to remove that motivation.  Now, that could be chilling to the Islamic terror movement. Brilliant, simply brilliant! Read, smile, and pray.

Counter-CutThere are indications in the independent media that all is not well in the abortion industry.  The procedures used by Gosnell may be more widespread than one would be led to believe:  Problems have been identified and are listed in 10 other states besides Gosnell’s home state of Pennsylvania.   Read more…

Hypocrites and Pharisees

Counter-CutScarcely a month has elapsed since the Gosnell verdict, but it’s already “old news.”  Our mainstream media and our nation in general have sighed a big sigh of relief and gone back to life and death as usual.   Even the scant mainstream media coverage afforded the trial at its height has disappeared into the distant past like an unpleasant scolding.  But life and death continue unabated in America’s abortion clinics (abortuaries).

Then last Thursday John McCormack of The Weekly Standard magazine asked House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (a vociferous supporter of abortion) to explain the moral difference between Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s murder of infants born alive and legalized late-term abortion.   Read more…
