Inability to Distinguish Between Reality and Delusion
Incidents of social insanity have reached epidemic proportions to the point where it’s impossible to keep up with them. They are literally consuming and destroying our society. Some examples of our social insanity follow:
Boston Marathon Bombings
It’s one thing to deny historical facts thousands and hundreds of years ago. It’s another thing to deny that the Holocaust occurred 75 years ago. And it’s absolutely mind-boggling for a University professor to assert that the Boston Marathon bombings were staged! Yet that’s exactly what some college professors try to teach their students!
USC professor tells students Republicans are Stupid, racist
Contrary to established historical facts, this professor remorselessly insists on teaching falsehood to students as truth. He teaches that Republicans are old, white, racist losers. Worse yet, he encourages voter and intimidation and fraud to deprive Republicans of their constitutional right to vote. It is social insanity to tolerate – let alone honor – teachers of falsehood any part of our education system. Yet that is exactly what we tolerate and honor.
The military vs. Evangelical Christians
Contrary to what many would like to proclaim today, this country was built on the Christian Protestant foundation. That’s how terms such as the “Protestant work ethic” came to be used for good workers and “WASP – White Anglo-Saxon Protestant” came to stand for trustworthy leaders in our everyday lexicon. So it is a clear indication of severe social insanity when these same Protestant Christian people are labeled as a primary threat against the very country they birthed – more so even than Muslim terrorists who have actively attacked the country and vowed to destroy it. Yet that is exactly what is happening today in our military.
To complicate matters, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) web site was recently blocked on some military bases. The military insists that the blockage was solely due to some malware (e.g. virus) they detected on the SBC website. Software filters for pornography and gambling were specifically mentioned as part of the cause – but the explanation is difficult to accept given the SBC’s nature and site’s content.
The malware miraculously disappeared and the blockage was removed within 24 hours after the situation was publicized. Although that is exactly the technical response what one would expect to such a problem, the military’s public explanation begs the question, “What really happened? What was the root cause?” The military’s explanation is not unreasonable, but it is incomplete.
In light of recent military actions and statements regarding evangelical Christians, such an unsubstantiated and incomplete explanation remains highly questionable. It would have been more compelling if
- A joint or concurrent SBC announcement had been made confirming the military’s statement or
- A more detailed explanation had been provided describing the general nature of the malware and the actions taken by both parties to resolve the matter.
Neither occurred; thus suspicion remains when trust is low.
All is not as it looks!
