The Bumper Sticker

I saw this bumper sticker on a car yesterday. Obviously someone had carefully removed “God” from the message, but left the desired blessing in place.
“How appropriate!” I thought, “What a perfect symbol for what this country is doing.”

Then a question popped into my mind, “Who is going to give the blessing, if not God?”

Next day my question was answered: “Jamie Foxx Calls Obama ‘Our Lord and Savior’ at Soul Train Award” and
Controversial painting depicts Obama crucified with crown of thorns“.
Clearly the blessings are to come from Obama!

My heart broke at the insanity of it all.

I could not help thinking of all those Christians martyred by the Romans because they refused to worship Caesar instead of Christ Jesus.
I cannot help thinking of all those Christians being tortured, imprisoned and martyred for the name of Christ Jesus today in China, North Korea, and Muslim countries.

What a sad contrast!

We are free to worship; they are not.
We are flooded with the Word of God and ignore it; for them just one page of The Bible is precious beyond measure.
We have been blessed above all imagination; they are deprived of even the most basic civil liberties we freely abandon.
Worst of all, we willingly choose to ignore the one true God and worship worthless idols while they bet their lives on Christ Jesus come what may.

How far we Americans have “evolved” since 2008! Perhaps “devolved” is a more appropriate term…

God help us! God bless us! Lord Jesus Christ forgive us!

All is not as it looks
