America, America, what have you done?
Gave away your daughter, sacrificed your son
Turned from your true love, from the holy one
Lusted for worthless baubles, now the bill has come.
Your old glory is turning into dust,
Your dreams merely chasing your never ending lust.
In old grandeur adorn yourself – do so if you must
But your toys and memories are worthless of your trust.
Your airplanes, warships, farms and cities others come to claim
Creditors respect not your bygone glory nor your present shame.
Your pride, your past, your illusions go ahead and proclaim
Your enemies care not a whit – for you are their disdain.
As a tree healthy on the outside but rotten at its core,
Soon you shall fall and you shall be no more
If your strong foundations you continue to abhor
And your toys and baubles to cherish and adore.
How can you pay for that which is now due
When each day you borrow more than you accrue?
Turn, turn, turn now to the one who loves you true
America, America your strength and beauty let Him renew.
From the one who made you, you have turned away
To false visions and idols you have gone astray
Don’t wait, don’t wait, don’t wait another day
Come back, come back, come back and hear what I have to say:
With a land of milk and honey I blessed you
With a spirit strong and righteous I filled you
With a law of truth I guided you
With a ruler strong yet gentle I guarded you
With my Word I encouraged you
With my mighty arm above all nations I exalted you.
Yet you turned from me, O America, O beautiful America
You banned my Word and closed my doors
You chose a ruler, lawless and ruthless
You perverted and ignored the law I gave you
You traded the Spirit of truth for political correctness
You filled the land with blood and disgrace.
So now I turn my face from you.
But if you come back to me, I shall restore you
Your land with milk and honey shall I bless
Your spirit strong and righteous shall I make
In the law of truth shall I guide you
With a ruler strong yet gentle shall I guard you
With my Word shall I encourage you
With my mighty arm shall I exalt you

A few days later I was reading The Bible and the following Psalms just resonated with this message. You might consider studying them:
Psalm 12, (The Faithful Have Vanished) – clearly describes our times today
Psalm 14 (The Fool Says There Is No God) – clearly describes the state of our culture today
Psalm 15 (Who Shall Dwell On Your Holy Hill) – describes what God expects, though we fail miserably.
I would like to close with words from Psalm 33:10-20:
The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.
The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
