Forgery or Reality?
The other day I wanted to conduct some routine business. I was asked to present my Driver’s License and a Birth Certificate. When I was applying for a job, sometimes I was requested to bring along my college transcripts or military service records. Clearly, others wanted to verify my assertions because all is not as it looks.
The Constitution places some very specific qualification requirements to hold Congressional or Presidential office. The requirement for the Presidency, in particular, is as follows:
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
If I can be required to present documents that prove my qualifications when applying for a job, then it is perfectly reasonable to use the same standard for a person applying for a job as President of this country.
There has been a long-simmering controversy regarding Obama’s past. This controversy came about due to a lack of reliable documentation regarding his qualifications for the Presidency, notably place of birth, selective service records, and career in college. Interestingly, there were several court cases filed in 2008; I was looking forward to their findings but they simply disappeared without even being brought to trial. Subsequently the issue went into remission. Those individuals with unanswered questions were dismissed as nut-case “birthers.”
Then as part of this election season Donald Trump brought a lot of pressure on Obama, and all of a sudden a set of documents appeared. The mainstream news media accepted everything at face value and trumpeted: Truth proven, case closed. It looked like the issue had finally been put to rest. But the questions remains: Why did it take over three years to produce a document? It would take me about a month – and I don’t have nearly the power and resources of the President of the United States of America.
All is not as it looks.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, in Maricopa County, Arizona, decided to examine the documents that had been recently produced. He held a news conference on March 1, 2012, to announce his findings: The documents are forgeries. The White House and most of the mainstream media ridiculed the findings. But nobody rebutted the claims.
Unfortunately Sheriff Arpaio is not without political baggage, so his findings may be tainted by politics. Or they may not… Nevertheless he is being personally attacked; the goal appears to be to discredit him or quiet him.
I can easily forge an electronic version of my birth certificate using Photoshop. Could not someone with many more resources do it for Obama? What do you think? Is it a forgery, or is it real?
I would sure love to see a full and open investigation of all questions raised, but I fear that will not happen. Of course the lack of such an investigation just adds fuel to the fire: If the documents are true and real, Obama should have nothing to fear from an open investigation. I would expect him to encourage the establishment of a bi-partisan commission to bring the truth to light. If the documents are forgeries, then we can expect continued stonewalling, name calling, and ridicule. My bets are on the latter…
But it appears that will not be the end of the issue. Sheriff Joe Arpaio has stated his intention to pursue the matter, perhaps even to the point of forcing a disqualification of Obama from the Presidential ballot in Arizona. I bet then the mainstream media will be all over this issue.
All is not as it looks.

Discerning the truth
So, can we discern the truth in all of this? Let us apply our truth-detector tool.
Everything I can do as a private citizen, the President can do more easily and more quickly because of his position.
Obama is a human being and will act like all other human beings: If he is a telling the truth, he will act like other men telling the truth.
If he is not telling the truth, he will act like other men telling lies.
|Hypothesis||Obama is telling the truth: He has a valid birth certificate and meets all the requirements for the Presidency.||Obama is not telling the truth: He does not have a valid birth certificate and does not meet all the requirements for the Presidency.|
|Prediction||Someone who is telling the truth has nothing to hide and will act as an honest person:
||Someone who is not telling the truth is a liar and will act like a dishonest liar:
If questioned about citizenship, any person could provide all the evidence necessary in a matter of a few months.
|Conclusion||Make up your own mind. Which pattern fits the events better? Is Obama telling the truth, or not?|
